Um.. a 12m/sec impact will do very bad things to a face, skull and brain.

For reference, that's a 7+ meter drop (a dive out a third story window) in earth normal gravity.

They have suit inertiics specifically to handle sudden stops and impacts like that. It's not enough for terminal velocity but enough for something like that. Plus, soldier boosts.

EDIT: also, the human body is much, much softer and more elastic than a lot of other surfaces at speed. We make good speed bumps.

Is Para going to be the shipper on deck for Kat+Kaff?

I almost made this thread, but I was gonna call it "Communications Problem".

And that is indeed what we, or rather, they have. But (IMO) the problem, itself, is almost entirely Elf.

Gotta agree on that this time. There's "I thought it was a good thing to test" and then there's "I didn't talk to the person who built it about the idea," and even worse "I just used some of the Brass as a cannonball and target." You definitely have a communication problem if you let that second one happen.

12m/s comes out to about 27 miles per hour. I suppose it would be damn near impossible to stay upright without assistance at that, and the fall would probably break some bones.

Sounds Kafkaesque.

I expected that anything inside a suit would be well protected, but if it can provide that level of support to the head while outside the "helmet" it could easily snap a spine, or just pulp your, or someone else's head. Vog was right that they use scary levels of power as if it were nothing.

It's not really that bad. Hitting another person at 12m/s isn't as bad as hitting the ground, as I said. We have a lot of give and built-in shock absorption and mitigation, as well as self-balancing systems. She would have already been trying to slow herself, Tagon would have been reflexively backing up, their suit inertiics would have been altering their personal gravity and lowering relative acceleration...and their soldier boosts increase their resilience remarkably.

Also, yes, those microannies in their uniforms have at least enough juice to apply two gees of force in a very localized area for extended periods. That's scary power. But it's also not very, because the microannies are very small and *very* dense. With all the punishment we've seen them take, even complete incineration by plasma cannon hasnt cracked one open yet, at least before the plant was stepped down and inert.
