The Tub of Happiness, page 178, gives rules for Schlock Attack Checkers. They look quite interesting and playable, though I haven't play-tested them.

However, I noticed one oddity. The game gives rules for mercenary characters, which include gaining pennies through multiple jumps and winning with 5 pennies, and and then designates every character except Ennesby as mercenary. Ennesby's special power, namely shooting a maser for essentially 1+(number of previous uses) pennies and taking out all checkers in a line, seems quite useful; however, with Ennesby not designated as a mercenary, the rules provide no means for him to gain pennies, which means he just gets one maser shot for his starting penny, and otherwise has no powers at all. In addition, as a non-mercenary, he cannot win with 5 pennies, so he can only win by capturing all of his opponent's checkers. These seem like significant disadvantages compared to every other character.

Ennesby's special power makes quite a bit more sense if he gets to follow the mercenary rules: he gets one maser shot to start with, but to get another he needs 2 pennies, then 3, and so on. This makes for a significant tradeoff if he can also win with 5 pennies.
