Something that gradually has begun bugging me more and more is that none of the Gavs we've seen have opted to stay as they were.

I'd think there'd be something like 1% who'd say, "Alright, now that everyone else isn't me, I'm good."

I can even dream up roving gangs of notGavs secretly hunting down the stillGavs, who are forced to work together to save their identity, despite the fact that they hate being in the same room with himselves...

Well, there was the one who hired Tagon at the wedding...

I imagine there are still quite a few baseliners, they're just not on Oisri. Specialised skills for the mission and all that.

Wasn't Oisri a specific project of the Diversification guys? Take a look at the strips where they were introduced.

This.

There are no baseline Gavs here because that's part of DEI's project. There are plenty of baseline Gavs elsewhere in the galaxy.

So baseline Gavs are not allowed to participate?

They don't appear to have been invited. Baseliners looking to differentiate come to DEI and get recruited.

That was made clear back in December. Pay attention.

A baseline Gav wouldn't have been useful in this project, anyway: A baseline Gav has the same skillset of every other Gav. How many of them know how to dig?

Hmm, lemme think a sec...
Gavs are being modded in such a way as to become all the needed components of a complete society with an underlying bond between them due to a common origin and shared past memories...
They now have access to what is onstensibly the largest controlled power source known to exist in this galaxy outside of Petey's core generator and the F'Shrrl-Ganni toroidal-singularity thing. I assume they had more than just the one that blew up just in case.
Again I say hmmm...

That, and the basic Gav probably lacks a skillset applicable to this project. An entire crew of Gavs cannot run a dig site.

The toroidal singularity is made out of the galactic core. There's a bigger one, pan'uri controlled, in Andromeda. It only blew up in an alternate timeline.

Well, they also had the toroidal singularities at the centre of each Buuthandi-star. Wait, is the Core-Generator simply a scaled-up Buuthandi-star-reactor-thing? I thought it was a Zero-point energy... thing.

Stellar-core toroidal singularies aren't for power generation. They're wormgates designed to tap the core of a star for fabber mass.

Oh, okay, I thought they were both. Fabber mass and tapping in to the biggest fusion reactor around, then beaming the power to the rest of the Buuthandi. Figured that would give more power than an annie-plant of any sane size that we had seen until now, although ...maybe not more than Oisri.

I don't remember it being categorically stated that the star-toroidals were or were not power generators also.

Just the effects of the pincer movement and it's consequences were highlighted.

They're probably rather multipurpose, producing both energy and mass-extraction. It's hard to do anything with a star that doesn't involve dealing with a lot of energy: You may as well use it for something.
