Schlock Mercenary has given me a usefull breifing.

My squadron has won an award!

Nice one , I got a challenge coin and the trophy will stay in our hangar for a year.

This makes me feel better about the idiots I work for .

Even though I just got told "How it works".

See? Even though you know how it works, it still works, and that's okay.

Congrats, and thanks for the hard work. It's good to see that the importance of what you do is properly recognized. Reminds me of a story I once heard about a fighter pilot who had to bail out behind enemy lines and escaped to safety. Years later, he encountered a fellow veteran in a restaurant who knew everything about the incident, though the pilot himself couldn't recall the man. When he inquired, the fellow said, "Oh, I'm the guy who packed your parachute!" Needless to say, the pilot bought the man's dinner. Heroes have heroes we never hear about.

Thank you!

Your story reminds me of I guy I knew.

The guy was wealthy and prosperous and a good friend.

One of his most prised possessions was a small stack of dollar bills.

During WWII he was a Catalina pilot and was often involved in rescues . In those days it was a tradition that people rescued from shipwreck or marooned on islands would give their rescuer a single dollar bill with their signiture on it.

On the top of this stack was the one signed by Eddie Rickenbacker.

Last week I visited family, a cousin of mine gave me a "not my circus" coin.

Not as a "buzz off" but because he guessed I would want to have it.

My ,oh, my, was he ever right!

It is a neat little thing , and it is a rare thrill to see an article of fantasy converted into an item of reality in hand.

I may give it again, but to someone I actually think would want it, it is a little too nice for giving to people that might not understand it.
