I can just see the conversation now.

Peri: "My partner suggested I dress to impress."
Tagon (still smiling): "Hey, considering what uniform you wore in combat last time, all I have to say is: You're dressed, so I'm impressed."

"Dress for the job you want."

You don't want an officer job in a Forbott'r mercenary group, you want an officer job in a Human mercenary group. So figure out how Human officers dress.

edit: Misspelled Forbott'r

Yup.

But this might just be the 'standing out' she needs to get noticed. Not that taking two to her naked torso didn't get noticed...

That's not something you want to be noticed and remembered for. Being notable for something like that really shouldn't be helping anyone's career. However it appears that it actually might in this case.

I think it's more that she survived taking two to the torso!

That's indicative of luck . . . and even Napoleon wanted lucky officers!

In my Army days there was a guy who got named to a fairly important position for a special mission due to the commander recognizing his name. The reason the commander recognized him was that he'd been written up for multiple administrative punishments in the past year, but none of them particularly recent. :? The kid did a good job, and it ended up as a springboard for his career; mark one up for institutional irony in the "standing out" category.

Don't forget that soldiers get medals for that IRL. If it happens in the course of some really interesting action, then it could turn out to be good for the career (assuming the wounding wasn't a career or even life ending injury, that is).
