This is probably the first time his flagship has been hit. Unfortunately it looks like it will also be the last since it won't survive for too long.
His two subordinates however recognized that they were no match for the "sack-hull" freighter and the "support ship" and ran away.

To be fair, he's probably never heard the sound of it on his side of the battle before.

And while it is the sound of imminent defeat, it is more likely the sound of a threat being delivered.

Why do people keep saying things like this?

Did you not read what Kaff said? They must survive so the threat can be properly carried out. i mean it was a really good threat after all.

Indeed.

Oh. The crew will survive, but the ship will probably end with so many holes that it will probably be sold as scrap metal.

Nah, just one new hole hatch with attached boarding pod.

I'm pretty sure that the incoming projectiles are T-O-E cages, so there will be no 'traditional' boarding pods.

That was the sound of your dismemberer's ride arriving-slash-impacting, "shiplord."

Could be, but there is no reason to give up such a big tactical advantage so early. A pod with a regular cage for entry and a backup TOE only if things hit the fan would make more sense unless a TOE can act like a regular cage so as to avoid leaking the existence of the new tech.

The less damage they do the safer it is for them legally. All they really need to do is completely own the guy, actual damage is hardly necessary. Except to that guys outfit when our fobottr rips the plate off.

True. Plus, doing a bare minimum of damage gives the Toughs better standing for "oh good, you're here - we can hand over these obvious pirates, you surely wouldn't have anyone flying under your flag who was desecrating the dead. And any proper militia would surely have been told about us coming to help with the emergency and acted as an escort to make sure that we got to where we needed to be with a minimum of fuss."

(I mean, I so do not expect it to go that way. But it could!)

I think that depends on how soft the Upper Uuple Patrol Group is. Flinders said that they are not as soft as the UPA, but that doesn't mean that they are hard either.

Yup. They're watching this fight, so you know they'll be evaluating their chances in a dust up with the Toughs.
