To be fair, seeing the two most powerful AIs in the galaxy (plus Evvy) plop a couch and TV down in the middle of broad daylight does act as a pretty good indicator that something's happening.

Also it seems they saw this coming, of course. https://www.schlockmercenary.com/2017-12-28

I certainly would be worried if god-like AIs suddenly did equivalent of posting this gif:

Point of order, the third sophont is Putzho, not Evvy. We haven't seen Evvy since they were introduced to Petey back at the end of the previous book.

Indeed, Evvy seems to be a sapient future-predictor. Putzho is our smart-alec burglar turned godling.

Putzho discovers that Chinook thinks different. See, this just isn't the sort of question a "Civilized" person would ask, now is it?

Petey explains that Chinook has an interesting history of thinking different. Putzho prompts Petey to explain why this may have been a good idea and Petey declines.

This leaves Putzho coming to terms with the idea that the intelligence operating eina-afa, arguably one of the four or five most powerful beings in the galaxy, could be a dangerous lunatic.

Putzho having relatively recently been a meatly person may be wondering if this means something profoundly different for AI than it would for biological people, or if there's some kind of rehabilitation process that Petey just hasn't told him about.

Being Putzho, of course, that rehabilitation process will make him see at least four or five sides as wrong here and he won't be sure whether there's a side that's right. He'll be spending some cycles being disturbed by the implications of the existence of such a process, some cycles being disturbed by the implications of Petey not telling him about it, some being disturbed the possibility of its nonexistence, some being disturbed by the idea that it may have been applied to Chinook without her prior consent, some being disturbed by the idea that whether with or without her prior consent it may have been applied without her subsequent knowledge, and some worrying about the possibility that even in the absence of her prior consent her subsequent knowledge could be edited during the process to include the false knowledge that she gave such consent, and some grappling with the idea that such a vile violation of personal integrity could have actually been justified given the danger to sophont life she'd pose as the mistress of eina-afa....

Remember, this is a conversation between AIs. All the neccessary context is being provided behind the scenes.

"I've survived worse ideas"
"That's the sound the bar makes when it goes lower"
