So I deduce that Para was flying her pet back from Maxim 39 when it was long-gunned and may still be alive?

Not back from but back to.

The last time we saw Para she was in her "pet".

So, it is possible that she was not aboard Maxim 39 when it was destroyed.

We'll see.

Well, if there happens to be a Para sized corpse in it, that corpse will most likely be Laz-2, and they can bump her ahead of the locals to get her back up and working, in time to fix her sashiko.
...Just in time to get the type of criticism she normally dishes out on Captain Foxworthy nee Andreyson from the engineer who is redesigning her hammock.

Crow is a dish best served well-seasoned.

I can't possibly be so lucky as for Para to be permanently dead.

Nah, she’ll show up shortly.

Except her criticism of Kevyn wasn't even valid to begin with. In fact, it wasn't even criticism. It was whining of someone who has exactly zero idea how science, technology and progress in those fields works. Taking works of other people and combining them in new way is literally the opposite of plagiarism, so you can add "using words she doesn't understand" to her list of crimes.

"Złego licho nie bierze"
I don't know what the English equivalent of this idiom is, but should be something like "Devil takes no evil (people)".

I like it... pithy and yet incomprehensible (no one speaks Polish that I know).

Seems to come across as "Bad things don't happen to evil people" or "Bad things never die". Maybe related somehow to English idioms like "Only the good die young."
