The question becomes what's going to happen next, as I don't know if the senate realizes all the shit going down.

I'm not sure anyone realizes all the shit going down right now, although Petey and the group Tenzy's briefing may be closer than most anyone else.

That seems to be a diplomatic vessel, not military. Someone said that Elf is probably going to end up fishing all that hardware out of the sewage, looks like that is going to happen.

[edit] Oops, never mind, it's a heavy cruiser.

Honestly the shiplord was a xenophobic idiot, but the actual Uuplechan government forces sound a lot more reasonable, less prone to making assumptions, and aware of how much firepower the Tough's are packing. If it wasn't for the possibility of a long gun shooting into the middle of this I would expect it to be all worked out reasonably.

Which of course means someone else is going to get shot now.

That's been me. I still hope to see it happen, Elf needs to be knocked down a few pegs.

I hope not. But that's about par for the course with our writer, every time it looks like something might just be smooth sailing it get's choppy again.

Schlock is likely to get lumbered with the job.

Well, they should probably drain the black water tank, first.
They have a tank of black water.
They have a fabber.
They have a ship full of famished retreads.
It looks like the solution writes itself.
Just don't tell the patients what's in the soup.

I think we all know what's going to happen next. The Uuplechan cruiser opens peaceful talks with the Toughs, and just when things are going really well, said cruiser gets long-gunned to oblivion. The Toughs get blamed for it, and things go rapidly southward from there.

The author's assurance that there's no other significance or consequence virtually assures that there will be, IMO.
Possibly involving shoes dropping (in no-longer microgravity).

I've been reading this strip more than long enough to know, Howard lies.

Proper authorial wiles mean that that you shouldn't have to lie . . .

Seriously, that's it. The microgravity has no bearing on the rest of the story. Nothing to see here.

Why would they need to drain the black water tank?

Just a slight nudge to the wrong system, and it's going to drain itself, now that gravity's off.
