I was thinking about the mysterious longgunner and remembered one of the factions involved in the current CF is an Insurance loby.

Could this be the mafia running an Insurance scam for hire. If you have a project that won't earn back your investment, make sure you are well insured, and give the mafia a call. The project goes boom. Give a slice of the insurance payout to the mafia and the job is done.

I don't think acts of war are covered by insurance, and I don't think the Maxim 11 was insured. Who on the crew would nuke it? They're all filthy rich anyway.

That would be acceptable for the targets in the Uuplechan system, and maybe some of the other places.

But who would be able to pull that off on an Ob'enn superfortress.
