How many of us thought we'd still be here and that Schlock would still be going this many years later?

And for anyone who couldn't find the '18' in the art, it's the "XV" and "III" on the back of the monitor. XVIII being 18 in roman numerals (or duodeviginti if you're saying it in latin, "two from twenty").

This strip was already several years old when I discovered it, and still updating daily, and both are generally good indicators of a stable webcomic, but no, if you were to ask me if any of the webcomics I read, and read then, would still be going strong after eighteen years, I'd have had my doubts. A decade, or thereabout, is a long time on the internet.

This is phenomenal.

I've been reading since around the time Ebby got his eye taken out by Mr Sniper.
I was hooked the moment Ennesby first produced his maser.

Every day for 18 years, without missing an update, in full colour? That's just about unprecedented.

That threw me for a moment, too, until I realized he must have meant he was hooked while reading through the archives, before he managed to catch up to the then-current strip, where Sargeant Ebbirnoth's was blinded by a sniper.

Well yeah, obviously I started from the start. I'm no savage :)
and this took place in August of 2008.

I remember when a 2000 update comic was considered highly successful, and was very saddened when it's archives disappeared (domain lost, archive.org has an incomplete copy, the author even said he lost access to update the website about a year before he lost access to the domain).

Also, maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought Howard missed one update early on? Certainly, when I did the math on number of updates and length of run, I was off by one.

I don't think Howard has ever missed an update. I think the closest that would count was an uploading error that delayed the site updating by an hour. Once.

Exactly, Howard's updates are like the tides. Unstoppable and always on time.
