I feel like this is less "boredom" and more "means and opportunity". Thurl doesn't seem to be in a mood that says "I've got nothing better to do than blow up the world", I'm reading him more as "oh boy I have the chance to blow up the world, how could I pass this up!" Little bit of hyperbole/figurative language here, I'm trying to express his mindset not exactly the thing that he's doing in the sim.
