The MSX1 series of computers used the TI 9918A video chip. The MSX2 series used the Yamaha 9938 video chip, which was compatible with the 9918A and added more video modes and more colors.

http://msx.jannone.org/conv/ and select from the various options. Screen 12 produces the best looking images but the resolution is less. (I think it's 512 colors.)
It's very handy for programming on the MSX computers (and some other computers and game consoles that used these chips) because after doing the conversion it creates a downloadable data file with the code for the image.
Hmmm, it'd be nifty for making pixelated forum avatar images...
