While screwing around with Google Analytics, I noticed they had a map overlay. At this point I discovered geographical locations for the strip's readership. Apologies in advance if I misspell anyone's city as this rudimentary spellchecker seems to think I'm having a seizure. Also bear in mind this is only what Google Analytics can classify -- there's traffic reported from "location not set" as well, so exclusions are inevitable.

The following are the top 15 cities per country, listed in descending order of readership:

US - Sacramento, California (Houston, Texas comes in as second-largest reader base)
UK - London
Canada - Windsor
Sweden - Solna
Germany - Saarlouis
Australia - Sydney
New Zealand - Auckland
France - Paris
Netherlands - Weesp
Iraq - "not set" (but 2 in Baghdad)
Poland - Poznan
Belgium - Geel
Spain - Girona
Estonia - Talinn
Denmark - Skaerbaek

And now for a section I call "The Loneliest Reader," listing countries that report only one visitor:

Zagreb, Croatia
Minsk, Belarus
Riga, Latvia
Male, Maldives
Brno, Czech Republic
???, Lithuania

A special shout-out to whoever's in Kumamoto-ken, Japan. Although if you meet any Uesugis, be aware we exchange notes at family reunions.

I now invite you to tell me 1) your location and 2) whether you're local or ex-pat. Since I assume most of the Iraq traffic is from servicemen desperate for entertainment, you are allowed to approximate #1. I'm curious.

Location: Seasonal migration. Check your local flyway.
Depending on my travels, I may log in from all over the US, but most of my traffic will be from Olympia, WA. I've also been known to frequent the Ventura County and Sacramento, CA areas.

I'm generally logging in from Seattle, though I do occasionally visit from Pointy's place in Oly, or somewhere in the San Diego, CA area.

I'm usually logging in from either somewhere near Sacramento or Los Angeles, depending on whether or not I'm on break from college.

I'm from Gerona in Spain, thought the spelling normally is Girona so it would be great if you changed it.
But is great seeing my city here

I'm from New Zealand, although Wellington, not Auckland.

Of course, I know that LJ at least misreads me as living in Auckland...

Remember that some of those locations are merely the ISP's main office address. :P

And circumventing traffic, I suspect, but hey. At least the odd person actually from that location will get a shout-out. ;)

I'd probably show up as Albuquerque, but I'm technically in Rio Rancho. Not sure which I'll actually show up as, but if you see a New Mexico reader, that's going to be me. And before I get the one person that always seems to ask, that is the USA, not Mexico.

And I have no clue what question number two is asking. Sorry.

#2 is mostly for folk in non-US countries regarding whether they're local or ex-patriots. Admittedly Americentric of me, but between servicemen and exchange programs it's a valid question. (For instance, the only Belgiums I've ever met I met in Osaka.)

Actually, now that I understand the question, I'd say it's not so Americentric. Everyone can answer it if they want, even if the place they are from isn't from here (it doesn't matter what other country they are from if they aren't "local" in other words). I'm a local, but not to the state. Was born in Omaha, NE. Moved to the ABQ area when I was about 11.
