Hiya.

Had this comic recommended to me by several people over the past few months. Finally got around to reading it. This is great stuff... Always been a fan of Greek mythology. Whee.

I'm sometimes found hanging around on the Schlock Mercenary forum, and several of Nightstar's IRC channels.

Oh, and LKM - that was a nice touch, having Isle reading Flowers for Algernon the afternoon (I think) before her fight with Apollo... great reference there.

And as soon as I get caught up with my own comic projects, I'll see about some fanart. :D

Thanks for a great comic!

Heh. Actually, there are at least three other direct references to the Apollo/Isle situation in the November 24th arc (I gave the entire night, from Guy Talk to Too Far a single name, since it seemed to fit; the dropdown and archive page should be altered tomorrow when I do a full page update). Unfortunately I'm a bit obnoxious that way; I like to foreshadow the crap out of things. I'm glad people don't find it too insufferable. :)

Hey. You're writing a story steeped in Greek mythos. Foreshadowing the hell out of things is the natural order. :D

Yeah, #seaofinsanity does indeed exist. I think. Then again, I've gotten no more than about four hours of sleep every night for a week, so at this point I'm not too sure if *I* exist.

uhm.. i've never really posted to a forum before, so this is my first time. (I feel like I'm at a 12 step self-help group). I stumbled across SoI about 2 weeks ago and needless to say, I'm completely, horribly addicted. 8O I discovered online comics about six months ago with a great online comic called "MegaTokyo".. and i've been a sneaking "at work" online comic addict ever since, always seeking out new material..

Anyway.. My name is Tosha and this has got to be one of the best strips out there. I just love the use of greek mythology and the indepth knowledge of the subject that is being used. So.. that was all I had to say. :multi:

Thanks

Got hooked on this strip by a friend. (Bad malformed bunny)

Wonderful storyline, and excellently done artwork.

...grumbling at sworkerpt...

That's Pointy Hare to you! You should know better by now!

Hares bear precocious young -- fully furred, eyes open, ears functional, eating solid food.

Bunnies/Coneys/Rabbits have altricial young -- pinkies with no fur, no sight, no hearing, and milk-only diets.

*preens*

Okay, no more tangents... I'll leave it to the other newcomers.

Well, if I'm giving up my OLS*, I might as well make it official, ne? The reason I've been hanging around for so long without actively posting is a few very bad experiences I've had on forums in the past. But anyway, that's over, and this seems to be once of the nicer, more civilized forums on the web (notice I didn't mention anything about sane ;))

Well, I'm 17, from Alberta, Canada, and I start my first year of university next week. At the moment, I'm in a general Bachelor of Science program, but I'm hoping to transfer into pre-pharmacy next year.

As for why I read Soi, well, basically I love the art, the penciling just adds something special, not to mention that it's so amazingly drawn. The writing is very intelligent and real, and the mythological aspect is great. It taps into all the Greek mythology I tried to get my hands on when I was a kid, but does it in such a unique way, that LKM takes a well explored(in my mind anyway) setting and creates something completely different from anything else on the web or in print. Also, I adore artists/writers who take the time to spend with their readers, and LKM manages that more then any other webcomic artist I've ever seen, hands down.

Anyway, I'm adjusting my sleep schedule and as such that probably all made no sense, but if I left this till I get up tomorrow, it would never get done. Now you all know why I'm such a lurker ;) So, apologies for the spelling mistakes I'm sure I have, and I guess I'll see yas around

MP

*edit OLS= official lurker status. I said I was tired ;)

You noticed that, too? :) I've seen some frightening forums associated with webcomics, but this one seems more well-behaved than most. Possibly because I'm around a lot, and put "behave or else" in the forum rules. *G*

And a special hello to sworkerpt, who I see has been bidding in the auction and so am unfairly predisposed to like. Yes, I am an art prostitute. ; )

Hello all. I'm a new reader of SoI, and a recovering forum addict. Yeah.

I'm not altogether sure what to say about myself here, so I'll just take a swing at it and see what comes out... I'm studying to teach history, I'm ex-Navy, and if you want to know more, please feel free to peruse my profile for interests and to email me for conversation.

Oh, some things the profile doesn't mention: I like sushi, movie and tv soundtracks, theology, Toshiro Mifune films (especially his early ones with Kurosawa directing), Humphrey Bogart films, and pretending to be an old grouch.

Well I thought that it was about time for me to come out of the shadows, Seeing how I have been reading SOI for roughly nearly 2 years.
I just love the fact that all the charactors are different. (I know, everyone says that :) But it doesn't make it not true.)
Faverout charactor is Pol. You just have to love a god that trys so hard, and gets so burnt in the process.

Hi.

I've actually been kicking around the zoo for a while -- hence the high number of animal footprints -- but this is my first appearance at the "Sea of insanity"-area. First post coming up soon, inspired by recent strips ... the handle's plain to see ... what else would you like to know?

Hi. I'm racerabbit. Been reading SoI since I followed a link from D101...um, call it six months ago. Just joined the forum tonight - heh, as if this being my first post didn't give that away.

I live in the largest parking lot the South has ever seen - Atlanta, GA. Hobbies include cursing at everyone on the road for slowing down for accidents on the other side of GA400; sitting in my car for 30 minutes for my 10 mile commute to work; and reading web comics.

Currently I am trying to figure out why I can't view any of the Keenspace comics. I can get to the sites, but in lieu of comics, I get little red x's. To whit, no SoI! 8O

Bugger.

Oh, and LKM? You rock.

I don't know if this would help you, but your problem does sound like what lots of people have been having. This livejournal post may help.

Welcome to the madne--I mean forum. ;)

That was exactly it, Searlait, thank you! I knew it had to be something to do with Norton, but had no idea what.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."[quote]

I'm yet still another lurker getting around to registering. Got addicted to SOI several months ago while surfing the web. Have been collecting comics and anime for 25+ years. Am happy to see that LKM is another Slayers fan. I am yet still another nerd. I'm not a rocket scientist but I do work with some.

I've already posted a couple of times, but I figure I should introduce myself officially. Found this comic a few days ago by way of Demonology 101 by way of Comixpedia, plowed through the archives, and then realised that I seem to have found the comic in the middle of a hiatus. Oh well, at least I seem to have come by near the end the downtime instead of the beginning.

I've got to bone up on my Greek mythology now, so I won't be completely lost.

Hey there Iguana.

Mythology you need for SoI. Some of the Greek pantheon are still around (and probably some others). They're all pretty screwed up. Apollo probably most of all.

The mythology you need to understand the board and join in the wild speculation, that's a different story. I'm pretty much reading everything I can, and there's still a bunch of stuff on here I haven't found yet.

(BTW, this has been mentioned before, but there's a great resource at http://www.pantheon.org if you're looking for a brief synopsis on a lot of subjects in mythology.

I don't know anything about mythology but I'm just too lazy to look it up, I find SOI easy enough to understand. So far there isn't anything I can't follow.

I was re-directed here by a faulty link in the schlock mercenary thread...

This comic looked nifty, so I figured I'd stop by and say hi.

"Hi."

...except not really.

I've been reading the comic for years, but generally avoid forums. But, I was hoping that someone somehow would know the fate of LKM. ...this seems to be not true, but I've found some interesting peoples hither and thither within the forums... and... with them a certain sense of community knowing that I'm not the only one crazy enough to check for updates (at least) once a week. So... I will attempt not to lurk and such.

I do welcome questions.
