 Post subject: Cleaning up...
PostPosted: Tue Sep 27, 2005 11:47 pm
Many people whom I consider rather intelligent have sworn off this forum because every time they dip into it they find it to be a pool filled with childish arguing rather than thoughtful discussion. I'm inclined to agree with this assessment.

Well as of now I've decided to start cleaning up. I will be either locking or removing future posts that are childish or inflammatory, at my discretion. Obviously, this being a political forum, there'll be a good deal of slack in what's considered childish and inflammatory, as this is the general nature of most politics.

I haven't often intervened (in fact, I can't remember when last I did) in arguments for concern of censoring too much. However, the current paradigm of complete lack of intervention clearly hasn't resulted in a forum I want to read anymore. As such, one should ask one's self before each post, "Is this a reasoned argument for my position or am I simply attacking another position without having thought it through?"

If you answer the latter, don't post.

Thank you.

Here here!

Or would that be pronounced 'hear hear'?

"Hear hear," though this is moot since you asked how to pronounce it (which is identical for both) instead of how to write it. ;)

...

I've been spending far to much time typing instead of talking.

I agree with this (that is, the cleaning up of the forum, not that you've been spending too much typing, etc.).
