It's a souce of irritation to me, actually. We just had a Supercenter open up a mile from my house.

It's handy, and we actually buy stuff there, but it's not doing my property value any good. We've got too much traffic going past now as it is, and this makes it worse.

Yeah, we have one a block away. I don't buy there.

Here in the backwards south, its a bit of a bragging right how many of the damn things a town has. Its like the measure of the town is how many Super Wal-Marts.

I had a roommate from Arizonia who was amazed when another guy and I were comparing our Wal-Marts and acting as if it meant something.

...I really need to move.

I don't have anything against Walmarts per se, I'm just always concerned about the market value of my damn house. I've got a lot of money tied up in this place, and I'm hoping to retire in about ten years. I want my value to keep going up, up, up.

I think there's actually some kind of international agreement against putting advertising in space. IIRC some clown wanted to float mile-long orbital Mylar banners, and somebody said, "bullshit."

The Wal-Mart You Don't Know

The giant retailer's low prices often come with a high cost. Wal-Mart's relentless pressure can crush the companies it does business with and force them to send jobs overseas. Are we shopping our way straight to the unemployment line?
