What is the next number in the sequence:

32 35 40 44 52 112 ==?==

3 5 4 8 60
2 -1 4 52
-3 5 48
8 43
35

that's a wierd sequence..
i can't find any sequences that make sense in any of it's differences, no matter how far down I go.

It's interesting that the 35, and 52 reappear in the differences.

:?: :?

Maybe try every other one..
first sequence
8 12
second
9 68

/me baffles

Perhaps it's not merely an arithmetic sequence, then.

Hmmmm...

32...3+2 = 5, 5 * 7 = 35.
35...3+5 = 8, 8 * 5 = 40.
40...4+0 = 4, 4 * 11 = 44.
44...4+4 = 8, 8 * 6.5 = 52
52...5+2 = 7, 7 * 16 = 112

But there's no pattern in 7, 5, 11, 6.5, 16...damn!

*think*
*ponder*

It's not really arithmetic...

shouldn't require any equations to find the next number...

And it shouldn't require twenty minutes to get lunch at Burger King, either, but I have to anyway.

Hmmmm...

*think*
*ponders*

We need more codes, I think.

the last 16 values of the sequence are: 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 2A, 32, 35, 40, 44, 52, 112, 200, 1012, 10000, 11111111111111111111111111111111.

As for what these numbers are: they are representations of the number 32 (decimal) in descending bases.

for example: 35(base 9) = 3*(9^1)+5=27+5=32(decimal)

Vorn the unspeakable

Ohh. Good job vorn. I doubt i'd have figured that out without trying at least a dozen more things first.
Ogre: thanks for the puzzle. :)

Bravo! Vorn!

Maybe we should keep a running tally of who gets the right answers for all the questions in this forum...or not.

Of course they would. You see, as I envision it, every month, the forum member with the least points would be tracked down and killed, thus weeding out the weak and stupid from the forums.

Weeelll.. Given that most of the forum members on the zoo don't know about this, and have 0 points, i'd say we're safe.
