Kind of pricey, but the new Fulton Armory Super Scout looks intriguing:

Details here.

I don't know anything about weapon pricing, but some of those optional add-ons seem like highway robbery:

—Add 100.00 for Fulton Armory's faux selector switch/lock
$100 for a FAKE selector switch?!

—Add 60.00 for front sling swivel rail
—Add 235.00 for Smith Steel extended scope mount —Recommended!
—Add 70.00 for new USGI 20-round magazine

Yowza!

One thing I didn't get:
Includes 18.5" or 22" barrel, add 50.00 for chrome (recommended)
Why is a chrome barrel recommended over whatever the default metal is? Easier to clean? Less prone to wear?

Resists corrosvies surplus ammo better; harder, longer-lived, easier to keep clean.

Service-type rifle shooters tend to be more concerned with barrel wear. One of my hunting rifles might get five hundred rounds a year fired through it, and the barrel will effectively last forever. A guy with one of these might shoot five hundred rounds in an afternoon, every Saturday, all year.

Now that's the type of weekend recreation I can get behind!
