You all may remember that, about a year and a half ago, my wife's stolen Sig-Sauer P225 was recovered by the West Metro Drug Task Force.

Well, the case was finally concluded, and yesterday the Jefferson County Sheriff's Evidence Vault released the gun back to me.

It looks like the fucking druggie that had it stored it under a cinder block in his back yard. It seems to function OK (haven't tried firing it yet) but it looks like hell. I'm going to break it down and clean it up as best I can, but I'm not too optmistic.

Mrs. Animal wants a new toy anyway, so we may take it to my friends at Dave's Guns, where I bought it, and see if we can work a deal on a Glock for her.

Animal - I'd say that most of the 'abuse' was probably done by the damned police department. Most police politics are inclined towards "We don't want anyone able to defend themselves, even though we're not required to defend them either."

You're lucky to have gotten the gun _back_ - a lot of them have a 'destroy all guns' policy even if they can return it to the owner.

I don't think so. Most cops out here (outside Aspen and Boulder) don't have that attitude. I know a couple of guys on the Jeffco County Sheriff's office team, and they all staunchly supported our CCW law, for example.
