I was just wondering if anyone else has played this game, let alone heard of it. If you have a PS2, you OWE it to yourself to play this game. It's wacky glee all rolled up in juicy insanity.

Here's a link to the official page in case anyone's interested. The Japanese page has a lot more goodies on it, especially in the downloads section. I mean, come on... any game that has chopstick holders as part of their downloadable crafts is already awesome.

Yeah. It's easily my favorite game of the year, too.

laaaaa la la la la la la la la ka-ta-ma-ri da-ma-shiiiiiiiiiiii

The soundtrack alone will rock your socks. Gametrailers.com has the intro (it's exactly the same in the Stateside version, sans the Japanese text, of course), and you can see the wacky in motion.

You said something about soundtrack,do you know of anywhere I could maybe listen to a sample?

Well... I don't know how long I can keep these up on Comcast, but here's links to three really good songs. (It was hard to choose three, let me tell you.) If you're interested in more, I can send you the .rar or just all the mp3s via my GMail account (if you need an invite, I've got a ton to burn).

The Intro Music - Nananan Katamari
The Bear Stage - Getsu to Oji
I Can't Remember What Stage But It's Probably Awesome Like The Others - Katamari Mambo

There's a lot of different styles in there, and even more variety in the rest of the songs. Imagine a lounge singer crooning "I want to wad you up into my life." Seriously. :D

DarthBaboon, the solution to your problems is called Winrar. Or you can try WinAce. Both are excellent archivers, and support all the major compression formats.

Umi, how about that PM? ;)

Well, yeah, I've been having some trouble. I wanted to use this one, but the first attempt failed as the pic was too large. So I temporarily put my Keenspot avatar, while I resized the pic.

It should stay put now :)

I am now listening to the soundtrack, thanks to Attilla's help... it fills me with such joy. It is just too cool.

MK, I'll send you that message pronto.

Thanks, Attila, for posting the link to WinRAR. Been busy for the past week, and uploading each track one by one via FTP was taking waaaaaaaaaaay too long. ;D

On another (yet related) note, they have Katamari on the Rocks as one of the songs on Taiko Drum Master, and I've been pummeling away at that one obsessively.

No apologies needed, silly Baboon! I was just worried that you wouldn't be able to download an additional app onto your computer, so I was renaming and uploading the tracks one by one. It's good to know that I don't have to do that anymore!

/me snuggles into the Nightstar Zoo like a second (internet) home.

Yes, and I plan to infect everyone with it, for it is like a virus.

A virus of love.

Umi, I've only ever seen Taiko Drum Master once, on a video from Japan.

Do you live in Japan? Or has someone finally imported it to the US?

It came out on... the 26th, I want to say. It was either Tuesday or Thursday of last week. It comes with one taiko controller, MSRP 59.99 USD. It's too much fun. I've already beat "Katamari on the Rocks" on Hard Mode. And the candy colored interface is hard to resist.

... but then again, I am a girl, so that sort of color scheme is probably marketed towards me, anyway. heh.

Oh, and I'm Asian, but American. It doesn't hurt that I live in a steaming hotbed of gaming goodness (metropolitan Washington state, nearby Nintendo and Microsoft headquarters).

Ook.

I found the Katamari Damacy soundtrack on a BitTorrent site.

This is GOOD STUFF!
