On the other hand I had a similar argument with my C++ teacher last week. "C++ is the best language!" "Oh, no it's not. here, let me name some things I wouldn't dare do in C++ that are mindbogglingly easy in other languages." - I named SQL (database), Mathematica (symbolic integration), Lisp (self-mod code, recursion, AI), Python (a lot of things - I named strings and RSA), Bash (filesystem maintenance, file manip...), and Java (incredibly secure code, cross-platformitude). :)

And there we have it. The right tool for the right job. Nicely put. :P Concur on several of those, though I'll always harbor a deep loathing for Java (and its JS cousin).

Java has its good points.

It also has its...not so good points. :?

And JavaScript isn't so bad. Netscape could've used a variant of BASIC for page scripting in Navigator. (Just found that I still have an old book on MBASIC. I looked in it. I'd totally forgotten how shitty BASIC really was)

I told you before, If you don't want to hear my opinion about this particular subject, quit prodding me about it. ;)

At that, it looks like the prodding has temporarily subsided.

To clarify this in response to some comments on IRC...

No, I don't consider these particularly similar. They're cousins. Like humans and gorillas are cousins. I've used both, I know the difference. It just so happens that I hate both of them anyway. ;)
