The cat should be something sophisticated...Alexander, maybe? Gregory? Something along those lines...it has to be a full name, not shortened for the effect to work.

The geek sorta makes me think Barney (as in, Rubble). Don't know why.

I see the geek -er sorry, the nerd (there's a difference!) as being called "Cecil" myself. It's the awful kind of name that only people like this can get*, the awfulness compounded by the fact he'd spend his life saying to everyone that his name is "Cesh-shil" *insert spit drops*. I agree that the cat should have a lengthy and distinguished name, so I'm thinking "Alexander" or possibly "Mr. Mittens". Glad to see the cat's making a comeback, at least, too ^_^
n/k
* the other one is, of course, "Victor", which isn't as ungainly but still more awful because of the irony attached to it, etc.

Yeah, yeah, because everyone knows that dogs are blue collar, working class types, and cats are snobby and upper class.

Heh.

I have to agree with n/k on the nerd being "Cesh-shil." Very appropriate. And the main reason I feel that the cat should be distinguished it his glasses. They give him the look. Everyone knows glasses make you look smarter, which might may a good characteristic to play on in future comics...you know, he always seems smarter than he really is.

Cecil = comedy gold. I think we have a winner here. Getting him to lisp his name is great... I love it.

As for the cat, wow... from what little screen time he's had, you sure have created a personality for him ;)

I know, we can name him after the 20th President of the United... oh wait. Man, all these names are taken!!

Rufus is a fun name, but I like that mostly because of the Bill and Ted reference. Open to other ideas still, though. I like the distinguished name idea, but maybe something more pet-like? You know, like a noun rather than "Alexander" or "Prometheus?" A noun, but distinguished.

Mercury would be great, but I think what would work only if the cat were female. Mittens would be okay, but I think a certain Mr. A would have a problem with it.

Love it enough to discuss royalty fees, I hope. I want 20%. Of everything, and that includes kidneys.

I'd like him to have the name "Cupcake", but that'd become annoying after 2 strips ^_^ Maybe name him after a card game (Canasta? Cribbage? Klondike? Pontoon? Baccarat? Blackjack? 3 Card Monty? Monty, get it, Monty! Bahahaha! No.)
n/k
Just don't call him "Cluster" or "Late For Breakfast".

My friend's cat wants a word with you. He feels you impugned his masculinity with that comment.

Okay, okay. Commence with the dialouge:

Cat: Meow Meow Meow Meeeow.
Brian: Meow Meow Meow?
Cat: Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow.
Brian: Meow Meow Meow Meow Mew?
Cat: *cough*

I think it wants Meow Mix.

Sorry, could have sworn I heard Mercury used as a female name somewhere... escapes me now.

Curse you and your bad onomatopoeia! - I prefer James Joyce choice of "Mrkgnao", and that's from the most important piece of literature in the English language... Or so I was repeatedly told. Anyway, what's Meow Mix? Hahahahah! Foiled by the Atlantic again!

Also, female?

cough, dialogue, cough

It's amazing what I'll bother doing to avoid studying for an exam, isn't it?

{professor}Oh, my, yes...{/professor}

Morbo will now introduce tonight's candidates. Puny human number one, puny human number two, and Morbo's good friend, Richard Nixon.

Okay, I just had a chat with the character behind these "Nixon" and "Morbo" fellas, and I'd like to repeat this here:

The past few posts are sort of spamming the forum, and abusing the "guest" privileges we have here on NightStar. I know I sort of invite it with keeping the "Tennessee Williams" threads active, but that kind of stuff is NOT the activity I want to see in other forum conversations. You can use "guest" accounts all you like, but abuse your privilege like seen above and your posts will be met with severe deletion and possible IP reporting. I don't want to be an evil mod, so please, don't make me one.

Sorry to steer this topic wildly off-course. Let's get back to the topic at-hand: Name the cat!

Or the Nerd. I'm still open to suggestions for either.

So, I'm guessing that Tennessee, Williams, Morbo, Richard or Nixon are out as suggestions then?

He's a tad underdressed to be called that, no?

Ask him the ultimate questions: red or green?; Cloister or Clister?
