Are Hessians not German? I always thought they were . . .

The Hessians were Germanic. There was no unified "Germany" at the time; von Bismarck hadn't gotten busy yet. 8-)

Step right up mate, your forum weapon, the Dog Bone of Dooooooom!. It sports a +15 for damage when used to clout some poor bugger over the head, a +5 as a device for tripping those who don't watch where they step, and between battles can be used as an alternative to dental floss. 8-)

Better not to ask plus fifteen what, mind. Just hope it's D&D style damage and go on with your life.

Shufgar is a dissident fighting for his people. Elf&co. are mercenaries sent in by the ruling faction to stop them. They bear roughly the same relationship that George Washington and the German troops did in the Revolutionary War. Think about that one . . .

Funny, I got the impression that Shufgar was a dissident fighting for Shufgar. He doesn't seem the type, somehow, to fight for anybody's people.

Hey, I just noticed--is Nick dropping to his knees?

I guess his supersititous side is kicking in.

Now it's time for Nick's loyalty test. Is he more loyal than he is supersitious? Tune in next time to see if Nick begs Shufgar to spare him from Elf's Doom.

Where? In the panel just under "blew up my ship"?

Doesn't look it to me. Looks like he's just staggering, as you probably would while seeing one of your mates shot, and having the internal conversation along the lines of "Can I kick this guy's ass with both hands tied behind my back? I'll bet I can!"

Anyone else feel Elf is being a little hypocritical here?

She kills people. It's her job. If someone is a murderer for killing one of her troops, so are the entireity of Tagon's Toughs (and the insult loses a little punch).

You might say that the Toughs are helpless prisoners and therefore immune to being killed, but so far treating them as prisoners has resulted in a large number of casualties among the furry guys, and therefore it is reasonable to cease to do so.

If you look at it objectively, then yes, she is being unreasonable. But since when does objectivity play a part in this sort of thing? The reasoning tends to be along the lines of "It's okay for us to kill you, because you're [evil/wrong/sitting on something we want/just plain not us]. It is not okay for you to kill us, because I know us, and killing people I know is murder." It's not logical, to be sure, but it's one of the driving forces of history.

To be fair though, Elf kills for money not pleasure. Shufgar appears to be killing for pleasure. He may also appear, from Elf's point of view, to not be aware that he's actually killing anyone.
