She did say she was planning to do some killing. By the way, I called her coming to the rescue though I didn't anticipate her doing so deliberately.

I'm sure the reinforcements have higher-end weaponry available. If they can ALL be routed by a single plasma cannon I'll be disappointed in them.

I hope Schlock didn't lose enough of his mass to significantly impact his functionality, there.

I'm surprised that Schlock's eye survived the plasma bath (and subsequent series of "Ablate!"s).

You know...he could just eat their remains...then no more mass problem.

Technically, she is fulfilling her contract to Schlock.

The real question is, was it just the one goon squad that was in on the big secret, or is the Major's entire force party to it?

If the former, the Major may just switch sides once she sees exactly what it is she's guarding. If the latter, a lot of grunts are gonna die.

From the way Max and the Professor were talking before the action started, I'm guessing it's the former. Very much need-to-know, with as many people kept in the dark as possible.

Kathryn to the rescue. Obviously needed for her continuing existence in the same universe as Schlock, but... meh.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Kathryn turns out to know more than even Professor Pau about what's going on. Recall that Pau was unpleasantly surprised to hear that Shep had been taken, which implies that mask boy and/or someone else may have been taking action behind Pau's back. Kath clearly got a major infodump when looking through the data in that armor suit's computer, and it was at that point she decided to start killing in more than self-defense. Hopefully over the course of this week, we'll find out what it is she's discovered.

On a separate note, it seems like it might be relevant that we never got a look at the upper half of mask boy's face - could it be that we would have recognized him? If that's the case (rather than it just being too irrelevant for Howard to feel the need to show us), my guess would be that Timmons managed to slip out of the mess he made on Mars, but that's wild speculation.

Ok, so there are still challenges to overcome, but even though I should have seen this coming, I didn't, and I never expected her to manage to get more than grudging cooperation out of Schlock. I hereby officially declare her to have been the most effective person in this whole charlie foxtrot.

I wonder what happened to Pau. There were six goons, six figures caught in the plasma wave, and six blams. Yet he's nowhere to be seen... unless he was standing behind the goons and got vaporized by the plasma.

This has been bothering me.
I counted six pops... There were seven hostiles (6 armored + 1 Professor) in the room.
What happened to Prof Pau? Unless the the plasma stream vaporized him during the initial hosing of the room...

Did I miss something?

I count 6 shots but there were 7 people in the room.
What happened to Pau? Or was he incinerated during the initial plasma burst?

Heh, my post got published almost exactly at the same moment as the strip where Pau reappears.
