2008-04-30 Last panel, Schlock's balloon, the apostrophe in "She's" seems rather low, to the point that it doesn't look like an apostrophe.

In 23-Mar-11 Schlock-lette says "Followed my own scent back here I looking for more bits." Unless that's supposed to be part of his "sounding confused" should it not be either "...back here. I'm looking..." or perhaps just drop the I altogether?

I did a forum search and didn't see this one:

The unit of measure for pain on the Ouchdammitometer is spelled differently on the two occasions where it's used:

huertz, 6 Aug 2000
hurtz, 28 Jan 2001

I know it's a bit late, since book one is already printed and out, but perhaps it can be fixed online and for future reprints...

"three-meter" => "three-square-meter"

which is about right for a circular contact patch two meters across

I have not observed an error in the strip itself. But the banner ad that appeared above it on your page (advertising your own comic on its own page seems a bit "meta", but whatever) could irritate some attorney drones who have an interest in phrases that include words like "seven habits." It seems that when you retconned the offending phrase out of your archive, you neglected to do the same for your set of circulating banner ads.

Oh goodness, I misspoke. It's not one of your ads, it's an ad using your artwork for something called "Star Pirates" which claims to be part of the Schlock Mercenary Universe and uses the "seven habits" phrase prominently on the page that the ad links to (which appears to be a login page).

I don't know where the liability lies. But if you are held legally responsible for uses of your IP, I fear that the existence "star pirates" game could become very expensive for you.

Sorry if there's a spurious post, I noticed I got it wrong and now I can't see the original post to correct it...

Location: Largest Island, Sol III - invasion not recommended, terrain and wildlife extremely hostile.
Hit the 'random teraport' button, and got taken to where the former Integrity, soon to be Touch-and-Go is being salvaged. When the Daysun-Tingo 'Bot is describing the ship by referring to Peelifruits, there used to be a footnote, I'm pretty sure. There isn't one now, and I couldn't find another reference to Peelifruits with the search function.

Rereading part of the archive and found this page, which begins with the narrator saying "We now return you to the metaphorical representation of Kevyn communing with with the blood-nannies in his brain as his memories of 'How I ended up dead in the woods' are restored." Note repetition of the word "with."

"They're" is missing an apostrophe in the third panel.

"nanoserge..." should probably be "nanosurge..." as the context is Tailor's surgical skills.

I've got a tech-geek nitpick: in the comic for November 11th, it should be noted that logarithmic force multiplication is not a compliment. Logarithms actually increase at a rate *less* than linear functions, so this would mean that the adorable little mistress of robots is actually *harming* the team's effectiveness. I think the term you want is "exponentially". However, perhaps I am misunderstanding.

In the comic for 11/11/11 (day, month, year format), Kathryn refers to Para's Force Multiplication as logarithmic; I believe the correct word is exponential. Unless, of course, she's referring to lumberjack songs.

In the introduction to Massively Parrallel, Tagon says that he's taking platoons 3 and 4 to mall cop command.
http://www.schlockmercenary.com/2009-03-22

however, on arrival at Mall One, Tagon gives orders to platoons 1 and 2.

Extra word in the first panel of today's strip? "If the you're serious..."

No, they named it Pronto's World, the most Shufgar could hope to get named after him was a hole in the ground: http://www.schlockmercenary.com/2007-04-28

I've been rereading "Massively Parallel" and spotted a mistake.

Monday, January 11, 2010, second panel:

Nick says: "Kevyn was dead, Hob was long-dead, an' I told Elf she had a kissing curse."

But with the new memories Nick has, Kevyn wasn't dead. They had probably left him for dead, but they later found out that he hadn't been quite dead (Or so Nick believes at this moment).

(Also, even with the true events, Nick isn't the last person that Elf kissed that is alive; ressurected or never dead, Kevyn is very much alike (and very much more kissed by Elf than Nick ever was).)

Changing "Kevyn was dead..." to something like "We had left Kevyn for dead..." will fix the first part, but I can't see any way to account for Nick's obsession with being the last man standing, given the fact that Kevyn IS still alive/alive again.

I believe the correct reading of that includes an unstated "... but isn't dead any more," after "Kevyn was dead". That is not necessarily a common way of phrasing such things, but it's also not especially uncommon, and it didn't seem odd to me when I read it.

Yeah, Nick was talking about what the situation was at the time, so as far as they knew, Kevyn was dead. And this is Nick we're taking about, the fact Kevyn is alive would mean very little to his superstitious little mind.

Correct. But he is speaking about what the situation was back then based on what his fake memories tells him. Which is that although the believed Kevyn was dead, that was not true.

Quote:

Yes, so far as they knew then, Kevyn was dead. But as far as Nick know NOW -- the moment he is making his speech -- they were wrong and Kevyn wasn't dead, something he found out later and know for a fact now.

So: Kevyn wasn't dead; rather, they had left Kevyn for dead. A distinction even Nick should be able to make.

The fact that Kevyn is alive and never died means that Nick isn't the last one of Elf's kissees who hasn't died. But I agree that I can't think of any way to salvage that part.

Injured, decapitated, and "ended up in a nanny bag" is close enough to dead to count, right? Sure, it's a straightforward enough procedure, but it's still gotta have an impact on those who witness it.

Looking back at the pages, I stand corrected. Though perhaps one could suppose that this is a sign that Nick may not have entirely taken to his memory wipes. (somewhat joking)

I suppose wiping Nick's mind is a tricky task. It's a rather small target.
